Fishing

Fishing is a Skill that can be trained by catching fish (duh).

• Passive Effect: Your fishing speed is increased by +0.4% per level, up to +40% at level 100.

After fishing in the same area for too long, you'll deplete the fish stock, causing you to catch ever-increasing amounts of junk. Eventually, all you'll be able to catch is junk. Occasionally, you will also fish up hostile mobs and primed TNT. To prevent this from happening, you should change fishing spots every once in a while.

These fish are extremely rare, and require very specific conditions in order to catch. Catching three different types will award the [Grand Angler] … Title, while catching all twelve will award the … [the Fishing Legend] Title along with a soulbound Sunforged Reel Ornament Kit.

	Coelacanth	As old as time itself, this deep-sea dweller rarely surfaces - only doing so under the cover of complete darkness, when no moon is seen in the sky.	Deep ocean rod fishing, at midnight during a new moon (ingame time 10PM - 2AM). Very rare catch.
	Red Herring	This crimson species of baitfish is moderately deceiving: despite being dimunitive in size, they pack quite a strong bite. While a rare sight in the wild, they have been known to migrate inland from the ocean to feed as the sky darkens.	River heavy rod fishing at sunset (ingame time 6PM - 11PM). Very rare catch.
	Azure Marlin	The cerulean prize catch of any fisherman, this beautiful fish glides like an arrow (trident?) through the deepest reaches of the ocean. Recent scholars have linked its very few appearances to the presence of its lesser cousin, the humble Swordfish.	Deep ocean rod fishing. Catch two Swordfish in a row for an uncommon chance to catch.
	Crystal Sturgeon	Clear as glass, this magical fish can hardly be seen against the crystal-clear rivers it calls home. The few who have claimed to have caught a glimpse of this elusive sturgeon have only done so at the crack of a windless, clear dawn - during which the sunlight's reflection reveals its crystalline shape.	River net fishing, at sunrise with clear weather (ingame time 5AM - 7AM). Rare catch.
	Ninja Tuna	As the sun sets, these agile hunters of the deep seas silently surface to feed. While their exact diet is unknown, old fisherman's tales tell of schools of sleek jet-black tuna chasing schools of herring and mackerel in the dark waters.	Deep ocean rod fishing at sunset (ingame time 6PM - 11PM). Catch 3 Herring or Mackerel in a row for an uncommon chance to catch.
	Moonlight Clam	Pearlescently white, this deep cave clam has likely, despite its name, never once seen the light of the full moon. Peculiarly though, this doesn't stop it from being able to detect moonlight - only daring to burrow up from the cavern floors when there's clear, visual confirmation of a moonless night.	Underground net fishing (below Y=0) at night during a new moon with clear weather. Very rare catch.
	Rainbow Spinner	As brightly colored as the biome in which it lives, this flamoyant species of trout was once abundant. Due to unknown reasons, however, its population has rapidly declined in the past few centuries, leaving only small populations left in the most colorful of forests. Legends say they chase the rainbows that appear after rain showers, determined to bring back their missing bretheren.	Flower forest rod fishing, in the daytime within 5 minutes of a rainstorm stopping. Rare catch.
	Ghost Minnow	Once though to either be immortal, or already dead, legend says that this tiny cave-dwelling fish can live for millenia, biding its times in the deepest of caverns, waiting for the day that it sees the light of the full moon.	Underground net fishing (below Y=0) at night during a full moon. The fishing spot must be exposed to the sky. Very rare catch.
	Raindancer	A large, deep blue trout that can often be seen leaping out of the water during a rainstorm. Scholars believe they mistake the sounds of the raindrops for insects - a hypothesis supported by the fact that they retreat beneath the water's surface not too long after the rain starts.	River fly fishing, within 5 minutes of a rainstorm starting. Catch 3 Trout in a row for an uncommon chance to catch.
	Electric Eel	This peculiar saltware eel is capable of unleashing massive jolts of of electricity when startled, and often congregate around the impact sites of lightning strikes. To the dismay of many an angler alike, it is not known to attack lures or baits.	Ocean net fishing within 10 blocks of an area where lightning has struck in the past 5 minutes. Uncommon catch.
	Starstream	Unstable energies coarse through the glowing markings on this fish's body. There is no logical explanation for how this fish came into existence - an inexplicable amalgamation of pure chaos from an otherworldly dimension.	Rod fishing, in Ender Dragon (Normal/Hard)'s phase 3, subphase 3 or 4. Cannot be in Practice Mode. Very rare catch.
	Megalodon	Once though to be a myth, a bygone of past eras that had long since been relegated to the history books. Perhaps it has returned to take revenge on its modern counterparts that have usurped its throne in the deepest oceans, snatching them away silently in the dead of night.	Deep ocean rod fishing at night. Catch 3 sharks within 3 minutes of each other for a window of time to catch.
